Assignment #2

One of my many responsibilities, is being King of Ithaca. I have a wife and son to care for, along with the citizens of my kingdom. On my return to Ithaca from the Trojan war, I tried my best to look out for my men that fought with me, but ultimately failed when the giant Polyphemus, cursed my name, and his father Poseidon, sent a huge sea storm to sink my ship. By the time my ships returned to Ithaca, I was the only survivor.
One of my symbols is a hunter's bow. I am very skilled archer. When I lift for the Trojan war, and did not return to Ithaca for a very long time, I was presumed dead. My loyal wife, however never gave up hope that I would return to her, and to our kingdom. When news spread that I would never return, many suitors came, intending to wed my wife, Penelope. Penelope, who was very smart, proclaimed that if any man could string my bow, she would marry them. No one was strong enough to string the bow, and when I returned, I killed all the suitors.
I was born in 1220 b.c., in Ithaca, which I now rule. I traveled to Troy, to fight the against the Trojans. I am associated with the Greeks, as a great hero of the Trojan war. I was originally a suitor of Helen of Troy, but then I helped the king, won Penelope. I am the mastermind behind the Trojan Horse, which eventually was a turning point for winning the war. I am very curious, which often gets me into trouble. I can also be a little strong headed and cocky, always getting into trouble, and narrowly avoiding being killed. I am friends with many kings of the Trojan war, like Menelaus, Agamemnon, Achilles, and Ajax. Also, I am friends with Athena. My worst enemy is Poseidon, who turned my two day travel back to Ithaca, into a 25 year journey.

  4. Why kill the suitors? I killed the suitors because they were trying to marry my wife while I fought overseas in the Trojan war, they were unloyal and many hoped I would never return.
